United Way of Blount County

Who We Are

At United Way of Blount County, we fight the good fight. We fight for those who need a voice and those whose names we do not know. We are advancing the common good by focusing on the root causes of our community's problems. We support the building blocks for a good life--a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family, and good health.

What We Do

United Way of Blount County supports organizations that help Blount County's most vulnerable through programs that create a healthy, well-educated and self-sufficient community. United Way's work makes our community stronger. But we know we can't do it on our own. We understand that to make a difference in Blount County we have to work together to achieve so much more than we can alone. That's why United Way collaborates with multiple organizations throughout the county, region, and state to make a bigger difference in our community. From community impact to our initiatives, United Way of Blount County is working to advance the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable and when people have good health.

We implement impact strategies through collaborative partnerships with agencies, businesses, the faith communities and donors. Facilitating collaborations around key issues, providing financial and non-financial assistance to new and existing agency programs, and leveraging community support for these efforts are just a few of the strategies employed by United Way in order to build a better community. Ultimately, United Way isn't just about the number of individuals served or even how many programs are funded, but about how lives in our community are changed and improved.

Financial Transparency

Our success is determined by how well we achieve our mission– to make measurable improvements in people’s lives and in the community we serve. Setting high standards for ourselves and for our funded partners is critical to that success. We take our role as a community leader and philanthropic organization very seriously. Our promise is to serve as an effective and efficient steward of our donors’ trust and their contributions. From 2012-2019, United Way of Blount County has received the highest 4-star rating for exceptional transparency and accountability from Charity Navigator. Additionally, United Way of Blount County received the Best of Blount 2019 Community Impact Award, an honor by which we are humbled. Our role as a community leader and philanthropic organization is of utmost importance to us.
