Blount County Animal Center/Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation
SMACF was formed in 2007 to raise funds for the first and only open-access municipal animal shelter serving Blount County residents, the Blount County Animal Center. SMACF's mission is to provide funding to BCAC to ensure exceptional medical care and to maximize adoptions. Volunteers walk dogs, socialize cats and dogs and help match up potential adoptors with their next best friend.
SMACF is a fund raising organization supported by the general public and private foundations. We have a Memorandum of Understanding with the Blount County government and provide over $200,000 to the animal Center annually for medical care and adoption. Volunteers help at the animal center to ensure animals receive love and attention until the time a new family can be found.
