**Special Olympics Tennessee has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 State Winter Games scheduled for this weekend in Gatlinburg due to forecasted severe winter weather in East Tennessee and an increase in delegations withdrawing from travel, as the safety of our athletes, coaches, families, volunteers, and staff remains our top priority. While we are disappointed, we are deeply grateful for your time, flexibility, and continued support of our athletes and mission, and we will share additional information about future volunteer opportunities soon.

Join us at the 2026 State Winter Games and help athletes from across the state reach new heights as they compete, celebrate, and showcase their incredible skills in basketball, speed skating, skiing, fitness and snowboarding! This three-day event relies on a dedicated and energetic team of volunteers to support our amazing athletes and make the Games unforgettable.
Volunteer roles include:

Sport support: scorekeeping, timekeeping, court management, awards, and more

Event set-up and tear-down
Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone. Please contact the event coordinator to register them
